Nothing special about Saudi treatment for Najib, just protocol

Saudi VIP treatment just protocol, Rahman Dahlan told

A DAP lawmaker has rebutted Umno minister Abdul Rahman Dahlan’s justification that the Saudi royal household would not have showered VIP treatment on Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak if he had lied about the RM2.6 billion donation.

“How superficial Rahman’s mindset is; (as though) he has never been treated as a guest-of-honour abroad in his political career,” DAP Segambut MP Lim Lip Eng said today.

“(He) shouldn’t marvel at the VIP treatment received by Najib (as) all VIPs and heads of state who visit Saudi Arabia will receive the same treatment.

“There is nothing special about what was given to Najib. You Google it and you’ll find it,” he said.

Lim (photo), who is a lawyer by profession, attached the photographs of Saudi King Salman Abdulaziz Al-Saud receiving leaders from various countries.

“(I am sure) they received appropriate VIP treatment with their status as leaders. Isn’t that protocol? There is nothing special in Najib’s (treatment),” he said.

“Maybe it is Saudi’s culture not to embarass Najib on the allegation of money channelled into his personal bank account,” Lim added.

Rahman, who is the UBN strategy director, had pointed out that the Saudi royal household should be fuming mad with Najib if the RM2.6 billion donation claim was fraudulent.
